The ATLAS COPCO 2903-7754-00 spin-on separator assembly is located on the lubrication system and separate the compressed air from the residual oil coming out of the compression bloc, sometimes it can be mounted on a valve bloc including the thermostat and the minimum pressure valve.
A high quality separator filter will be size with some safety factor in order to function properly at pressure slightly under-rated capacity.
Air oil separators have a major impact on the performance of a compressed air system. Higher differential pressure will create higher energy consumption, excessive oil carry-over will result in higher compressor maintenance cost and extra downstream equipment filtration replacement.
